How to Budget a Luxury Build
Learn a practical way to budget a luxury construction project without losing control of scope, materials, or timelines.
Start by defining your must-haves versus nice-to-haves. A clear priority list prevents expensive last-minute changes.
Break your budget into categories: structure, MEP (electrical/plumbing), finishes, fixtures, and contingencies. Contingencies (typically 5–10%) protect you from site surprises.
Choose a finish level early. Premium stone, modular systems, and bespoke woodwork can shift costs significantly, so align expectations before procurement.
Use milestone-based tracking: foundation, structure, MEP rough-in, plaster, flooring, cabinetry, painting, and handover. Review progress and expenses at each milestone.
